Nationwide Children's Hospital
All BuckeyeThon events support the Hematology/Oncology/BMT Unit at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, a member of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. This hospital is where almost all of our BuckeyeThon kids receive their treatments. 100% of funds that are raised by Team Members and volunteers are donated to the hospital. These funds are used to support families who cannot afford the cost of treatments, necessary items to be purchased by the Hematology/Oncology/BMT Department to further improve the quality of care they can provide, and groundbreaking clinical trials to find the best way to treat these illnesses.
Ranked in U.S.News & World Report’s “America’s Best Children’s Hospitals,” Nationwide Children’s is the nation’s largest non-profit freestanding pediatric healthcare network, providing wellness, preventive, diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitative care for infants, children, and adolescents as well as adult patients with congenital disease. A medical staff of 1,000 and a hospital staff of 10,000 provide state-of-the-art pediatric care for more than 1.2 million patients from all 50 U.S. states and 41 foreign countries. As home to the Department of Pediatrics of The Ohio State University College of Medicine, Nationwide Children’s physicians train the next generation of pediatricians and pediatric specialists. The Research Institute is one of the top 10 National Institutes of Health-funded freestanding pediatric research facilities. Nationwide Children’s remains true to the original mission since its founding in 1892 of providing care regardless of a family’s ability to pay because when your child needs a hospital, everything matters.

Children's Miracle Network Hospitals
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has grown dramatically since its founding in 1983 from a televised fundraiser in a small studio to one of the North America’s leading children’s charities. The organization was founded by Marie Osmond and her family as well as John Schneider, Mick Shannon, and Joe Lake.
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals raises funds and awareness for 170 member hospitals that provide 32 million treatments each year to kids across the U.S. and Canada. Donations stay local to fund critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment and charitable care. Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has raised more than $5 billion, most of it $1 at a time through the charity’s Miracle Balloon icon. Its various fundraising partners and programs support the nonprofit’s mission to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible. Columbus's own Nationwide Children's Hospital is in the network of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
The organization works to accomplish two simple goals:
- Help as many children as possible by raising funds for children's hospitals
- Keep funds in the community in which they were raised to help local children
