Creating the Extraordinary Student Experience

The Ohio Union

Meet Anne...

Anne Montalto, a Student Life Advancement intern, has recently accomplished an extraordinary feat by raising over $1,000 for BuckeyeThon! With this accomplishment, she is now part of the exclusive Miracle Maker Club! She shares with us how everybody can become a Miracle Maker For The Kids!

"Originally when I signed up for BuckeyeThon I set my fundraising goal at $300. I was looking on the BuckeyeThon website and stumbled upon the templates that were available to dancers to help them fundraise. As I read these templates, I became motivated and wanted to share these positive messages with people in order to increase my fundraising For The Kids. I went through the contacts in my phone and made a list of people I thought would be willing to donate. I modified the templates and sent personal emails to each person on my list. I also decided that I wanted to increase my goal to $1,000. I thought to myself, "I haven’t participated in BuckeyThon before so I might as well dream big this first time around and make the best of the experience." I sent many personalized emails to friends and acquaintances from my high school, my church, my soccer club, and Ohio State. Each time I received a donation I got a little more excited, and realized I was closer and closer to my goal of raising $1,000 For The Kids. When I realized that I was not only going to meet my $1,000 goal, but also exceed it, I was thrilled!

My experience and excitement around becoming a Miracle Maker is humbling. Knowing that I raised money For The Kids at Nationwide Children’s Hospital is something that means a lot to me. I am amazed at how generous people are and how supportive they are of helping the kids and putting an end to pediatric cancer. Sometimes all it takes is a little time on your part and hitting the send button. Before you know it, donations will start flowing in. I feel very fortunate to have been able to reach my fundraising goal! I have heard nothing but positive feedback from former participants of BuckeyeThon, and I am extremely excited to be a part of this incredible philanthropic event!"
