Meet Josh...

We love this time of year, and so does Josh! He is FULL of some holiday spirit and shares all of his exciting plans for this great season.

"Hi, I’m Joshua. I am 9 years old, almost 9 ¾. I’m very happy the holiday season is here – it’s my favorite time of year. It’s the most wonderful time of the year! #song reference (come on, sing it with me… With the kids jingle-belling, and everyone telling you, be of good cheer… it’s the most wonderful time of the year!!!!)

One of the reasons the holidays are my favorite is that all my family is here, and I don’t get to see all of them very often. We always watch Charlie Brown Christmas every season and other holiday specials like How the Grinch Stole Christmas. One of my absolute favorites is ‘Home Alone.’ I love the pranks Kevin plays on the robbers, how he becomes friends with the older gentleman neighbor and how they both get their family back for the holiday!

Some of our traditions are going to The Nutcracker ballet (the Central Ohio Youth Ballet presentation at the historic Midland Theatre) with my twin cousins and going to Christmas Eve Mass and then to my Grandma’s house for our Christmas Eve celebration. While we have some really yummy food, Santa’s bell starts ringing every so often. (My grandpa used to be the one who would sneak out and ring the bell when he claimed he was going out for a drink!) On the third bell, we gather around the tree and open our gifts from each other. Now, I get to help carry on the tradition of ringing the bell with my Dad and my uncles. One of my favorite holiday memories is getting to ring the bell for the first time last Christmas.

One of the other special things we do is to collect toys to take to Nationwide Children’s Hospital for kids who will be spending the holidays in the hospital. Last year, my cub scouts and I took over a hundred donated toys! We even got to be on the radio! That was pretty cool. We want the kids to have toys and not be left out over the holidays just because they are in the hospital.

Now that Thanksgiving is over, I can’t wait for the SNOW!! I want a lot of snow, but hope it doesn’t create an av-a-lanche! I love to play in the snow and belly flop in it and sled down the big hills at the Mansion across the road from us. It’s chill!!

Over the holidays, my family and I wish you… a Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukah, a Happy Kwanza, a Happy New Year – any other Happy Holiday – and much peace.

Cheers, and… Go Bucks!"
