Dance Marathon Overview
What is BuckeyeThon's Dance Marathon?
BuckeyeThon’s Dance Marathon is an annual celebration of the fundraising that Ohio State has done for the year in support of Nationwide Children’s Hospital. OSU’s Dance Marathon is the largest dance marathon in the country, which engaged over 5,000 Buckeyes last year who raised $1,603,437.49 For The Kids. Over the past 16 years, BuckeyeThon has raised over $8.0 million in total.
When and where is the Dance Marathon?
Scarlet Half: Friday, February 8, 2019 from 7:00 p.m. to Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 7:00 a.m.
Gray Half: Saturday, February 9, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Both shifts of the Dance Marathon are held in Student Life's Ohio Union.
What shift will I attend?
In order to provide the best Dance Marathon experience for all Team Members, this year BuckeyeThon Team Members will register to fundraise For The Kids without selecting a Dance Marathon shift. During the registration process each Team Member can indicate up to three friends they would like to participate with. BuckeyeThon will work to the best of our ability to place each Team Member with as many friends as possible. All BuckeyeThon Team Members will receive notification about their shift by January 21st, 2019. If you have any questions please contact Nicole Marcus at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Fundraising Teams and Color Teams
When you register online, you have the option to join a team, which is usually affiliated with a residence hall, Greek chapter, student organization, etc. Besides fundraising together, Fundraising Teams often have meetings, participate in activities together, and make shirts or outfits for the big day. The Dance Marathon is a great way to strengthen the relationships in your club or social group!
Team Members will also be on one of eight Color Teams for activities at our events. Color Teams are different from Fundraising Teams, but all members of a Fundraising Team will be on the same Color Team. Each Color Team will consist of many Fundraising Teams and will be paired with two or three BuckeyeThon Kids. At events throughtout the year, Team Members will wear the color of their team and have opportunities to interact with their team's BuckeyeThon Families!
What do I bring to the Dance Marathon?
Registered Team Members will receive more information about what to bring to the Dance Marathon as the event gets closer. For the entirety of the Dance Marathon, Team Members will be inside the beautiful Ohio Union. All meals, snacks, and drinks will be provided. Check out the Dance Marathon Survival Guide below to find out how to be 100% prepared to have the best time of your life!
We would like to invite all team members to attend pre-check-in for the 2019 Dance Marathon!

What is there to do at the Dance Marathon?
Yes, of course there is dancing at the Dance Marathon! Team Members learn the Morale Dance throughout the night and there is always music playing provided by the Fabulous Dance Doctors. Beyond dancing, there is so much more to do at the Dance Marathon! Participants enjoy team competitions, games and activities, complimentary meals, entertainment, performances, and most importantly, the opportunity to interact with BuckeyeThon Families. Team Members view this event as a very rewarding experience because they are able to have fun, bond with their friends, and contribute to a cause larger than themselves.
Haven’t hit $250 yet? Want to become a Miracle Maker but aren’t sure how? There is still time! Keep up the fundraising up until and during the Dance Marathon!
