Office of Student Life

Mission, Vision and Values

The mission of BuckeyeThon is to create awareness and raise funds for children with cancer and blood disorders. As an official program of the Office of Student Life at The Ohio State University, BuckeyeThon focuses on children being treated in the Hematology, Oncology and Bone & Marrow Transport Unit at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. BuckeyeThon works to achieve this mission through programs, which enhance the student experience; promote the value of philanthropy; establish a spirit of service; and cultivate relationships between students, faculty, staff, and community members. Now more than ever, we are committed to fundraising $2 million dollars for Nationwide Children's Hospital.

The vision of BuckeyeThon is to support the Columbus Community in the fight to end pediatric cancer and blood disorders.

The value of BuckeyeThon is to foster the spirit of philanthropy in every individual.

We hold ourselves to the standard of excellence in everything we do; the relationships we build, the events and programs we plan, and the experience we provide for our BuckeyeThon Families, members, students, donors, and supporters.

Compassion and fun are at the heart of what we do. We push ourselves to always think, serve and lead with compassion.

We are dedicated to making and inspiring positive change in the world. We keep the cause of serving for the kids at the center of all that we do.

We communicate directly and honestly, we promote authenticity and transparency in our relationships and programs, we are open to feedback and coaching, and give positive feedback with candor and respect.

We recognize the importance of promoting teamwork, being curious and creative, and promoting positive, constructive conversation.
