In-Event Fundraising Resources

In-event fundraising is an opportunity for Team Members to continue to fundraise while at the Dance Marathon. This year, BuckeyeThon is challenging all Team Members to raise $43, which represents the 43 children who are diagnosed with pediatric cancer and blood disorders each day. Below are a few resources to help you raise $43 and beyond.

1. Email Template

Copy and paste the template below into your email and send it to friends and family you may have missed prior to the Dance Marathon:

Family and Friends,

I am currently at BuckeyeThon’s 2020 Dance Marathon, the largest student-run philanthropy in the state of Ohio. I am dancing for a 12 hour shift at the Dance Marathon, with all proceeds benefiting the kids of Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s Hematology, Oncology and Bone & Marrow Transplant Unit. I am so humbled to be standing For The Kids right now.

I’m thrilled to be participating in this year’s Dance Marathon; last year, Ohio State raised $1,606,087.99 For The Kids! With this accomplishment, we are striving for even greater heights for 2020; my personal goal to contribute to the movement is to be a Miracle Maker by raising over $1,000! Our hope is to have a record breaking year and raise more than ever before.

To achieve this goal, I will work on fundraising through various events and resources provided to me by BuckeyeThon. Donors like you, however, have the ability to make the biggest impact on not only my experience as a BuckeyeThon dancer, but on the lives of so many families undergoing treatment here in Columbus, Ohio. Any amount can make a huge difference in the life of a sick kid.

If you are interested in making a donation to my personal fundraising, click the "Donate Now" button at the bottom of this email! You can also visit buckeyethon.osu.edu for information regarding our cause and event!

Thank you for your consideration and, in advance, for your donation!

2. Goodnight, Kids!

After you say goodnight to the BuckeyeThon Kids, post on social media asking your friends and family to help you reach $43:

Hi everyone! I’m currently at BuckeyeThon's Dance Marathon, where I’m standing for 12 hours to fight for children battling life-threatening illnesses. This is a picture of us saying goodnight to the BuckeyeThon kids, who are all survivors and some of the strongest people I know! Tomorrow morning, while they wake up at home and get ready to come back to the Dance Marathon, 43 kids will wake up on the Hematology, Oncology and Bone & Marrow Transplant Unit of Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Because of this, I am trying to raise at least $43 in the next 12 hours for these kids. I can’t do it without the support of donors like you, so would you consider donating to my fundraising efforts? Here’s my link! __________________.

3. Texting
